What Do You Want 2023 To Look Like?
1 Article, 1 Podcast, 3 Webflow Jobs, 3 Inspo Websites. Let's Go!
Hey Webflailers - it’s Jack.
Last week, I spoke to a young freelancer called Zak (@zakFlowz).
He is a great guy who is at the start of his Webflow career and he told me he didn’t feel “ready” to start applying to agencies for freelance agency work even though he wanted to. He wanted to focus on continuing to learn online and build up experience before having the confidence to apply.
I think we can all relate to this - anxious to not be ready to take on challenges that agency projects present. As a result, we might delay applying until we have done that one more Webflow course. Or made that one more portfolio piece. Or when we have got advice from every single family member about interview technique.
What I have found in my short time as a Webflower and having worked for 2 agencies so far is that you are never ready when you start at an agency. When you start at an agency, there will be projects with complex features, there will always be client situations you could never have imagined, you will be following processes you didn’t know existed.
I have found you don’t really become ready to apply for agency work. You just do it trial by fire style.
So my advice is just to apply for that agency work. You will learn, grow, develop, make contacts and get your own practice down.
You can’t learn to swim JUST by studying how to swim without getting in the water. So just get in the water when you know basics and go from there!
How To Freelance For Agencies | With Maggy Monceaux

However, Maggy wasn’t always a Webflower. Coming from a film background, she used to craft props in the film industry. Maggy says, ‘I transferred my love for building things to designing and developing websites.’

2) Failing to say "no" more often and be more selective
3) Failing to figure out my process early on for my design + dev work
